How Does Total Freelance Work

HOW IT WORKS FOR CLIENTS (FREELANCE EMPLOYERS) AT TOTAL FREELANCE

Freelance employees can sign up for free at Total Freelance and search the fast growing database of freelancers (predominantly UK-based experienced freelancers). Employers have the option to post a job and wait for applications (or invite freelancers they like to apply) or proactively, directly approach freelancers they want to work with on particular projects. For design focused jobs, employers can search portfolios only.

HOW IT WORKS FOR FREELANCERS AT TOTAL FREELANCE

Freelancers, predominantly UK-based sign up for free (via LinkedIn to make it easier) and fill out a profile including picture, overview, location, website (if they have one), skills, experience and create a portfolio if desired. (TIP - the more content the better because it helps clients find you). Total Freelance freelancers can then apply for remote or 'on-site' jobs via the platform. Unlike other freelance websites, freelancers arrange payment and communication off site as it's aimed at professional freelancers that predominantly work on-site at clients premises.

Company Reviews

I have used Total Freelance twice, once to find a copywriter, the other to find a logo designer. I used Total Freelance in the first place because I wanted to find someone based in the UK, I’ll be honest, a lot of people from outside the UK applied for the jobs but probably 80% were UK based.

Total Freelance unlike other sites is strictly just a meeting place of freelancers and businesses which makes it different to other sites. There is no listed hourly rates or any of that jazz. Strictly job posting and direct messaging.

I posted a job and also used the “find a freelancer” button which basically identifies freelancers with the skill sets you have added to your job description, then you simply select the freelancers you want to apply and assume they’re emailed from Total Freelance.

Both people I employed were very good, albeit (much) more expensive that Far East but the quality was very high. For some projects I prefer to meet face to face. For the copywriter they worked on site a couple of days a week so had to be localish. Recommended if you want quality UK-based freelancers in local time zone and on-site. Would use again, four stars.
